At Al Rabeeh Academy we provide a broad and balanced curriculum because we understand that students need to be engaged in their learning. In our Secondary school, learners are segregated by gender from Year 7-12, allowing for individualised teaching to be tailored to the needs of the children.

Al Rabeeh Academy works very hard to give our students a positive experience of secondary school life. Our personal and proactive approach will ensure the teaching is responsive and forward-thinking to include modern methods of lesson delivery. With differentiated teaching methods, rigorous assessment and a high level of staff expertise, our Secondary school students all receive an excellent educational experience.

Students with additional needs benefit from a range of intervention programmes and receive additional support from teaching and support staff. Our most able students are also well catered for through challenges in the lesson with a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities to stretch them academically.

An academic curriculum, which includes a combination of subjects. Core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science and MOE subjects. We also offer a broad range of additional subjects, Geography, History, PE, Art and Design Technology. Excellent lesson planning, with an emphasis on personalisation, ensures that each student makes good progress and is suitably challenged in all lessons.

Regular and consistent assessment tracks students’ progress across the curriculum and identifies those who need additional support and guidance. Our rewards system encourages students to work towards even greater success. Our curriculum is not about ‘delivering’ knowledge, but encouraging our students to develop learning competences to resolve problems for themselves.

    Key Stage 4

In Year 10, students have the unique opportunity to combine their subjects with a broad and balanced curriculum being offered. We are really proud of the academic pathways that our students can follow to ensure that all students at ARA are catered for. In additional to traditional subjects like English, Maths, Science and Arabic, students have options like Psychology, Business and Information Technology to name but a few. Students also have the opportunity to study further option subjects from an extensive choice, so that students can individualise their curriculum to meet their interests and future career paths. This allows our students to achieve the secondary equivalency certificate, Thanaweya Al-Amma which is evidence of their secondary schooling in the UAE.

    Assessment

Through the Secondary school assessment plays a key role in identifying strengths and weaknesses of each individual learner. The information gleaned helps develop individualised academic pathways and modifications to existing schemes of work.

Every subject carries out a baseline assessment at the beginning of each year. Alongside this assessment every student sits the Cat4/ABT aptitude assessments. This combined set of data allow the academy to set aspirational targets for each student. Through the year students will receive summative mini-module assessments at the end of each block of work. Students also receive a mid-year and end-of-year summative examination. Formative assessment is a key aspect of every lessons, with way-points and understanding checks taking place more than once in each lesson. In each lesson there is a wider focus on learning skills focusing particularly on our 5C’s: Critical Thinking, Communication, Curiosity, Collaboration and Creativity.

Al Rabeeh Academy also follows ADEK assessments using GL Progress Tests in English, Mathematics and Science. The UAE is proud to also follow international benchmarking assessments such as TIMMS and PISA.

When students are in the external examination years (Year 11-12-13) they have an additional Mock examination period. This is designed to familiarise each student with the process and rigour of external examinations. The marks achieved significantly inform every students academic pathway.
